Q&A – Solarising Victoria Falls
The main goal is for VFSC to supply renewable green energy to businesses in Victoria Falls through solar power, emphasizing benefits like reduced carbon emissions, cost savings, and energy independence without businesses incurring the capital cost.
Solar power is a clean, renewable, and affordable energy source. It helps reduce carbon emissions, save money, and increase energy independence. It also supports "green" tourism by allowing businesses to claim a reduced carbon footprint.
Businesses can save 30 to 40% of their current ZESA bill by entering a direct power purchase agreement (PPA) with VFSC at a set tariff, eliminating the need for capital funding and reducing the risk of ZESA tariff increases.
A PPA is a legal contract between VFSC and a registered entity, allowing the business to purchase solar power at a fixed price over a specified period. VFSC provides power from various locations using Net Metering Technology.
Businesses should evaluate their energy needs, review their ZESA bills, assess their infrastructure, and consider the impact of outages.
(1) Businesses need to supply at least three recent monthly ZESA bills allowing VFSC to calculate annual net-zero consumption.
(2) The business needs to supply details of its location, GPS coordinates or street address.
(3) The business will need to indicate on a scale of 1 to 5 of the frequency of outages with 1 being seldom and 5 being frequent.
(4) The business should complete an Expression of Interest letter for tailored solutions from VFSC.
